About Us — DMP Fitness
Darryl Perrilloux has been involved in the athletics and the fitness industry since he picked up a basket ball at the ripe age of 6 years old. From grade school to junior high to high school played basketball in addition to participating in track and field events with an unmatched fervor and passion. But as one’s athletic passions drive one to achieve impossible feats and break records, sometimes you push too hard and suffer defeat, injury, and setback. Darryl’s first brush with a significant injury was running the anchor leg for the 4×100 meter relay in 8th grade where he suffered a slight tear in a hip flexor muscle. Although he recovered from that injury, knee tendinitis flared up often through out high school. It was in high school, where Darryl started to work with a Basketball sports-specific strength and conditioning professional. The teachings and influence of Dr. Marcelles Hall, would later prove instrumental in shaping the type of Master Trainer Darryl was to become.
In college, Darryl pursued walking on for the Basketball team at two different universities. Darryl wasn’t able to gain any traction at either university, but Darryl never stopped trying to get better and spent a lot of time teaching himself about the different aspects about preparing for athletics, including strength and conditioning techniques, nutrition, and supplementation. As Darryl’s passion for studying these preparatory techniques continued to develop, it one day hit him, that he should consider pursing athletic training as a profession. The summer before Darryl’s senior year of college, he changed his major from Biology to Kinesiology (exercise science) and took another two years to finish his major and minored in Biology from the University of Houston in 2002.
